Private Cancer Screening Tests

A variety of tests for different types of cancers

Cancer Testing at MUMS Solihull

At MUMS we want to give you peace of mind - checking your body for cancer before you have symptoms.

We offer holistic consultant led consultations, ultrasound scans, diagnostics and testing for suspected cancers or for those patients at high risk – perhaps from family histories.

Early investigations not only offer peace of mind – but early diagnosis for breast, cervical, colorectal, skin, urological, bowel, ovarian, lung cancers – provide early treatment and the very best outcomes.

Our Specialist Consultants and Private GPs offer cancer tests and cancer screening to include:

PSA

There's currently no screening programme for prostate cancer in the UK. This is because it has not been proved that the benefits would outweigh the risks.

If you're a man aged 50 or over and decide to have your PSA levels tested you can have this at MUMS.

The cost of a PSA test is £120.00

FOB FIT Bowel Cancer Screening Test

MUMS offer the Faecal Immunological Test known as the FIT TEST. This includes FOB ( Faecal Occult Blood ) in addition to the FIT Test.

We send a sample of your faeces to our partner laboratory to check to see if there is any blood present. You should be investigated if there is a significant amount of blood in your faeces. Positive FIT test results can indicate an ulcer, diverticulitis, IBS, piles but more importantly it could be cancer.

The FIT test is important – especially if you have a family history of bowel cancer or if you have symptoms.

Cervical Cancer with HPV

The Pap test ( cervical smear ) can find abnormal cells in the cervix which may turn into cancer. The HPV test looks for the virus (human papillomavirus).

The guidelines around cervical cancer have changed. HPV is now seen as even more useful in itself re cervical cancer risk than abnormal cells. This is why - at MUMS we test our clients for HPV as well as endocervical cancer (smear test).

Cervical Smear/HPV/Exam + Consultation with our Gynaecologist - £260.00

HPV testing is felt to be better at predicting cervical cancer risk - see this link

Early CDT Lung

You should consider a Lung Health Screen/Early CDT Lung test if you have any of the following risk factors:

  • You are a heavy smoker, especially of cigarettes, cigars, shisha and marijuana
  • Victim of passive smoking
  • Family history of lung cancer
  • Recurring pneumonia or bronchitis

The EarlyCDT®-Lung is a simple blood test to aid in the risk assessment and early detection of lung cancer. This test detects circulating antibodies against the cancer cells in the blood. Antibodies can be detected well before patient become symptomatic. The turnaround time for results is approximately 10-15 days.

CA 125

This ovarian cancer screening test costs £140. This is for high risk patients and best performed with a scan and consultation.

HE4 ROMA

You may also wish to consider the HE4 + ROMA combined test. This is more expensive but it tests for CA125 and combines this with HE4 which significantly raises the sensitivity when detecting ovarian cancers. By using both the CA125 and HE4 results, ROMA (A risk of ovarian malignancy algorithm) is calculated to show whether you are at high or low risk.

ANTE BC TEST

This test looks at your individual DNA for any specific variations (2803) that can be associated with breast cancer.

Based on any variations identified it then produces a score which gives you an individual risk of developing breast cancer in the next 10 years compared to the average woman of your age in the population.

This test is recommended for women between the ages of 30—75 of European origin.

This test cannot diagnose breast cancer only the risk of developing breast cancer.

Your risk score simply describes the chance that you might develop breast cancer and whether it is higher or lower than the general population.

Mole Assessment and Mole Removal

  • Mole Assessment £175.00
  • Mole Removal £225
  • Additional Mole removals cost £225
  • Pathology analysis for moles sent to the laboratory £220.00

If the mole appears suspicious when the specialist assesses it with his/her dermoscope – you will be asked to agree to the mole being sent to our laboratory for path analysis. This costs £220.00. If you do not wish for pathology analysis the specialist may not remove the mole and instead – write to your NHS Practitioner to refer you to an NHS Dermatologist. It is imperative that we discover the mole is benign and not malignant.

Scrotal Ultrasound for Scrotal Cancer Diagnosis

At MUMS we offer Scrotal Ultrasound to patients aged 16 and over.

MUMS radiographers, sonographers and Consultant Urologist offer scrotal ultrasound scans. This diagnostic is safe, non-invasive and reliable. The procedure takes around 30 minutes. Using ultrasound to assess the scrotal area helps clinicians identify conditions before they become serious or unmanageable.

A testicular ultrasound is the primary imaging method used to observe and diagnose abnormalities in the testicles.
