ENT Consultations

Miss Emma Hoskison is an Ear, Nose and Throat Consultant (ENT Consultant) who treats children and adults struggling with a wide range of symptoms and conditions. Emma often sees patients at MUMs on Mondays between 9 am and 7.30 pm.  However, Emma is available to see patients throughout the week.

Each year, more than 1.7 million people struggling with conditions such as tinnitus, hearing loss, breathing problems and head and neck tumours are referred for ear, nose and throat treatment by their local GP. However, extended NHS waiting times mean that fewer people secure an appointment with an ear, nose and throat consultant as and when needed.

To guarantee that ear, nose and throat consultations can be taken advantage of promptly, here at MUMs, we provide private appointments with our ear, nose and throat consultants (ENT Consultants) at our Birmingham based clinic.

Why Are Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) Check-Ups Important?

Ensuring that any ear, nose or throat problems can be assessed and diagnosed, check-ups are vital if treatment and diagnostics are to be secured. Ear, nose and throat check-ups also ensure that any underlying sleep and breathing issues can be resolved as quickly as possible.

Nasal polyps

These small tissue growths form inside the nasal passages and sinuses and can cause problems with a person’s breathing, sense of taste or smell and cause a runny nose. Our private ear, nose and throat consultants will treat them with medication. Alternatively, they can be removed during endoscopic surgery.

Facial discomfort

Our ENT consultant can diagnose and provide solutions to help manage facial discomfort and headaches.

Nasal discharge and blockages

Excessive or persistent nasal discharge can be caused by several problems, including allergies, nasal polyps and rhinitis, all of which cause blockages in the nasal passages due to inflammation.

Nasal deformity

Deformities to the nasal passage can be present at birth or caused by nasal trauma, such as a fracture to the nose. Some medical conditions can also cause nasal deformities.

Watering from the eyes

Watering from the eyes is often a result of various conditions.  Although not all conditions require medical treatment, endoscopic surgery can be provided if this is caused by a blocked tear duct.

Dizziness and vertigo

Dizziness and vertigo are caused by a few different issues, such as dehydration and low blood pressure.  In some cases, problems with the ear, such as an infection, can also cause people to feel dizzy or nauseous.

Tinnitus has a range of causes, from a build-up of earwax to an ear infection. Our ear, nose and throat consultants can diagnose the cause of the problem and advise various treatment methods.

Ear discharge

Sudden onset of ear discharge or persistent ear discharge for long periods needs to be investigated and treated medically or surgically.

A recurrent sore throat

Recurrent sore throats can be due to infections, acid reflux or allergies. A consultation with an ear, nose and throat surgeon will help reach the right diagnosis and treatment.

Change in voice

If you have noticed a change in your voice, this needs to be investigated by an ear, nose and throat consultant.  In doing so, a diagnosis can be reached, and treatment can be administered.
