Paediatric Phlebotomy with MUMS Consultant Paediatricians

MUMS Consultant Paediatricians offer private paediatric blood testing at MUMS Solihull for newborns, infants, children, and adolescents. We do not offer finger prick testing – only venepuncture.

The cost of Paediatric Phlebotomy is £50 for the 15 min appointment for phlebotomy only plus the cost of the actual laboratory test. This does not include any kind of consultation.

We recommend a consultant appointment which costs £245 to ensure the test is the most appropriate investigation to have - and with this type of appointment – the results are interpreted/provided free of charge via a follow up remote consultation. Whereas if you choose paediatric phlebotomy only – we simply share the result/laboratory report via email to you. To have the results interpreted you would need a consultation.

MUMS Paediatricians have provided this private paediatric phlebotomy service for 5 years at MUMS. This service is available for routine and urgent blood samples from newborns to 16 years of age.

MUMS Paediatricians are very experienced, calm, and confident and explain every step of the procedure. Most results are ready within 48 hours, but some can take as long as 2 weeks. It is important you prepare your child for the test.

There are no waiting times for our children’s private phlebotomy service, and we do not need a referral from your GP. Children must attend with a parent or carer who has parental responsibility.

Anaesthetic cream is provided.

You may bring an NHS Blood Request Form from your GP if you wish. Please ensure your child is warm and has had plenty to drink unless it is a fasting blood test.

We offer a combined children’s profile which costs £110 and includes:

  • Ferritin
  • Full Blood Count
  • Urea & Electrolytes
  • Liver Function Test
  • Bone Profile
  • Iron
  • Total Iron Binding
