Growth and Well Being Scans are performed from 24 weeks to 42 weeks of pregnancy, 6 days a week at MUMS Solihull. MUMS is a state-of-the-art private antenatal clinic.

Growth and Well Being scans are reassuring when assessing baby’s growth in the 3rd trimester. This scan aims to determine the growth and health of the baby by measurement of the size of the fetal head, abdomen and thigh bone and calculation of an estimated fetal weight. Including examination of the movements of the baby and evaluation of the placental position and appearance.

Our consultants are Mr Anoop Rehal, Consultant in Fetal Medicine and Mr Davide Casagrandi, Speciality Doctor in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. MUMS Consultants are highly qualified specialists with NHS and Private experience in diagnostic pregnancy scanning.

24–42-week Growth and Well Being Scans cost £110 for single pregnancies and £150 for Twin pregnancies

Growth and Well Being Scan includes:

24-42 week 2D Scan to assess the baby’s growth pattern
Baby’s heartbeat and movements
The presentation/position of baby – cephalic or breech
Position/appearance/function of the placenta including umbilical artery doppler measurement
Measuring of amniotic fluid level around baby

Do I need a full bladder?

Yes please attend with a full bladder for all pregnancy scans
When can I get a growth scan?

You can have a growth scan from 24 weeks until the end of your pregnancy.
Do you check the placenta?

Yes, we check the placental positioning and the blood flow from the placenta to the baby via the umbilical cord to make sure is functioning properly.
Do you check the amniotic fluid?

Yes, we check the volume of amniotic fluid and/or the deepest pool.
Can I bring my family or friends to the scan?

Yes, you can, we can accommodate up to 2 people apart from yourself and we are happy for you to bring children as well.
What happens if you find something wrong during the scan?

We will discuss all the findings with you. The sonographer or consultant will explain the next steps.
If I don’t wish to know my baby’s gender, can I still book for a growth scan?

Yes you can, we will keep away from the genital area or we will ask you to look away when we need to measure the thigh bone.
Do I get a report ?

Yes, you get a full report, thermal pictures and a USB with the entire video and pictures.
