At MUMS in Solihull, Dr Asad Rahim, Consultant Endocrinologist, provides private endocrinology consultations, investigation, diagnosis and treatment for adults aged 16 years and over.

Appointments are unhurried and available face-to-face or by telephone, with rapid access to blood tests and other investigations where required.

A GP referral is preferable but not essential, and you can contact us directly to arrange an appointment.

About Dr Asad Rahim – Consultant Endocrinologist

Dr Asad Rahim is an experienced Consultant Endocrinologist who also works within the NHS at University Hospitals Birmingham.

He graduated from the University of Leeds in 1991 and was awarded Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP) in 2010. He also holds a Doctorate in Medicine (Endocrinology) from the University of Manchester, awarded in 1999.

With more than 25 years' experience, Dr Rahim assesses and manages a wide range of endocrine and hormonal conditions.

A private consultation with Dr Asad Rahim costs £245.

If blood tests or further investigations are recommended, these can be arranged through MUMS. The cost of any additional tests or investigations will be explained to you.

If you are already waiting for an NHS Endocrinology appointment and would prefer to be seen privately, or you have symptoms that you think could have an endocrine or hormonal cause, you can arrange an assessment with Dr Rahim.

You do not necessarily need to have an existing diagnosis.

What Conditions Does an Endocrinologist Treat?

Dr Rahim assesses, investigates and manages a wide range of endocrine and hormonal conditions, including:

• Diabetes
• Overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism)
• Underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism)
• Other thyroid disorders
• Thyroid problems during pregnancy
• Parathyroid conditions
• High calcium levels

Not everyone who sees an Endocrinologist already has a confirmed endocrine condition.

Dr Rahim can also investigate whether an underlying endocrine or hormonal disorder could be contributing to symptoms or health problems such as:

• Persistent or excessive tiredness
• Difficulty losing weight
• Unexplained changes in weight
• High blood pressure where an endocrine cause is suspected
• Menstrual or hormonal problems
• Symptoms suggestive of a thyroid disorder
• Other unexplained symptoms where an endocrine cause needs to be considered

Following your consultation, Dr Rahim will explain whether further investigation is appropriate and discuss any recommended blood tests, imaging or other investigations with you.
