Allergy Testing

MUMS private GPs can advise and diagnose and treat many allergens.

A runny nose, sneezing, rashes, itching, headaches, and asthma are all common allergic reactions.

If you think you might be suffering from an allergy, you can have your symptoms diagnosed at MUMS. Diagnosing an allergy will usually involve having a blood test. We can confirm any personal suspicions you have regarding any common substances you might be allergic to such as nuts, cereal, dust or pet hair.

We provide an extensive range of tests to give you the information you need to make clear decisions about what is safe to eat and what substances you should avoid contact with.

During a consultation, a doctor will discuss your symptoms with you and take a sample of your blood. This blood sample will then be sent to our lab for testing and analysis by an immunologist. Blood allergy tests measure the number of antibodies in blood that have been produced by the immune system in response to a suspected allergen.

We have extensive allergy testing by taking a blood sample. Results take between two and three working days to come back.

You can choose to be tested for single allergens, which cost from £31. There is a whole range of these, too broad to list here, but our GP will be able to discuss them with you.

Another option is that you choose one of our allergy profiles. Again, depending on the type of allergy we're testing, e.g. nuts and seed allergy, there is a wide range of profiles we can choose from, for example:

• Fin and shell fish allergy test (combined)
• Cereal allergy test
• Gluten allergy test
• Milk and milk protein allergy test
• Stone fruit allergy test
• Insects allergy test

The most common and best place to start if you want to test across the board is UK Allergy Profile. This costs £180 and tests for: cod, cows, egg white, soya bean, peanut, cocksfoot meadow, meadow fescue, timothy grass, cat dander, cladosporium, herbarum, dog dander, house dust mite and latex.

Any of the allergy tests listed can be performed within a GP Consultation which costs £100.00 including follow up.
