Beta HCG test £90

Private Advanced Pregnancy test (Beta HCG)

If you think you may be pregnant and want a more accurate answer than a home pregnancy test, our Private Beta hCG Pregnancy Blood Test in Birmingham offers early, reliable pregnancy detection.

The Beta hCG blood test measures the level of human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) in your bloodstream, allowing pregnancy to be detected earlier than most urine-based tests. Blood testing can identify pregnancy hormones as early as 6–10 days after conception and may provide confirmation before a missed period.

Unlike home pregnancy tests that provide a simple positive or negative result, a quantitative Beta hCG blood test measures the exact level of pregnancy hormone present in your blood. This can provide:

  • Earlier pregnancy detection
  • Greater accuracy than urine testing
  • Quantitative hCG results
  • Support for fertility treatment monitoring
  • Reassurance during the early stages of pregnancy
  • Confidential and professional testing

Beta hCG testing is widely used for early pregnancy confirmation and monitoring of hormone levels during the first weeks of pregnancy.

β-hCG (Beta-HCG)

  • A hormone produced mainly during pregnancy by the placenta
  • Measured in blood (quantitative) or urine (qualitative)

Who Is This Test Suitable For?

This test may be beneficial if you:

  • Have missed a period and want an earlier accurate test result to confirm pregnancy
  • Are experiencing early pregnancy symptoms
  • Have received a faint positive home pregnancy test
  • Are undergoing fertility treatment or IVF
  • Want confirmation before announcing your pregnancy
  • Require accurate hormone level monitoring
  • Monitor early pregnancy (levels should roughly double every 48–72 hours early on)
  • Confirm pregnancy (earlier and more accurate in blood)
  • Help evaluate ectopic pregnancy or miscarriage

This test looks at the HCG volume in the blood – HCG is secreted as the egg is implanted.

This test is very sensitive and can detect even very low levels of HCG, possibly giving a positive result earlier than an over-the-counter urine test.

HCG levels less than 5 are considered negative.

HCG levels about 25 are considered as positive.

HCG levels between 6-24 indicate a repeat test is necessary.

This test is for women who would like an early test to check if they are pregnant. A negative result does not necessarily mean that you are not pregnant as HCG may not be detectable even with this sensitive test, especially if you tested early or ovulated late. A repeat test is recommended if your period has not arrived after another 3 days.

We send the test to our partner laboratory in London at weekends and locally during the week for same day results.

This test is important if there is a risk of ectopic pregnancy.

We often suggest this test where the early pregnancy scan does not detect a pregnancy because it is too early to scan.

Understanding Your Results

Human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) is a hormone produced shortly after implantation. In a healthy early pregnancy, hCG levels generally rise rapidly and often increase significantly every 48–72 hours. Monitoring these levels can provide valuable information about early pregnancy progression.

Your results will be reviewed alongside your clinical history, and further testing or ultrasound scans may be recommended if appropriate.
