Private Stone Fruit and Rosaceae Allergy testing at MUMS Solihull for Adults and Children

The purpose of a Stone Fruit (Rosaceae) Allergy Blood Test is to determine whether your immune system is reacting to proteins found in stone fruits such as:

  • Almond
  • Apple
  • Apricot
  • Cherry
  • Peach
  • Pear
  • Plum
  • Raspberry
  • Strawberry

Why Have This Test?

Identify the Cause of Symptoms

If you experience:

  • Itchy mouth or throat (oral allergy syndrome)
  • Lip or tongue swelling
  • Hives or skin rashes
  • Stomach pain or nausea
  • Breathing difficulty (in more severe cases)

This test helps confirm whether stone fruits are the trigger.

Detect Rosaceae Family Sensitivity

Stone fruits belong to the Rosaceae plant family.
If you react to one fruit (e.g., peach), you may also react to others in the same family.
Testing helps identify whether it’s:

  • A single fruit sensitivity
  • Or a broader Rosaceae allergy

Distinguish True Allergy from Pollen Cross-Reactivity

Many people with birch pollen allergy develop reactions to stone fruits due to cross-reactive proteins.
This test can help determine whether symptoms are:

  • Mild pollen-related cross-reactions
  • Or a genuine primary fruit allergy (which may carry higher risk)

Guide Safer Dietary Choices

Rather than avoiding all fruits unnecessarily, results allow:

  • Targeted avoidance
  • Clear dietary guidance
  • Reduced anxiety around food choices

Support Risk Assessment

For individuals with stronger reactions, confirmed results allow:

  • Appropriate medical advice
  • Allergy management planning
  • Emergency preparedness if required

Having an Allergy Test to see if you have a particular food allergy/sensitivity/intolerance at MUMS Solihull is easy. We offer simple blood tests but combine several different fruits together to make a profile to give you a bigger picture of what type of food you may be allergic to or intolerant of.

Stone Fruit/Rosaceae family Allergy Test costs £200.00

Testing with a GP for Adults

The Consultation with our experienced GPs is £120.00 plus the cost of the allergy test.. The GP will perform the allergy blood test and explain the results to you free of charge.

You may choose to have a simple £35 Phlebotomy appointment in which to be tested. The results would be emailed to you, and you would need to have a paid consultation to have the results explained to you.

Testing with a Paediatric Consultant for babies and children

For children under 16 years old you will need to book in with our specialist consultant paediatrician for a consultation and allergy testing. The cost of a consultation with the paediatrician is £245.00 plus the cost of the test. Alternatively – you may just decide to have your child tested without a consultation. A blood test with our paediatrician costs £50 plus the cost of the test. This does not include a consultation. The results would be emailed to you, and you would need to have a paid consultation to have the results explained to you.

We do not recommend allergy test for babies under 6 months. You may still wish to have a consultation with the Paediatrician to discuss any issues you and your baby may be facing.

Results are back in 2 days.

If you are allergic to Stone Fruits, you may experience symptoms which worsen over time.

Allergic reactions can be brought about from stone fruits – although usually mild – but severe reactions can sometimes happen.

MUMS experience of providing allergy testing has enabled us to group common allergen tests together.

This Stone Fruits combination test gives our GPs and you a good idea as to what it is that is causing your allergic symptoms or your intolerance of.

Our allergy component testing may be a better option for you than our single allergy tests.

We offer allergy testing 6 days a week.
