Private Ultrasound Scan of the Pancreas

At MUMS we offer ultrasound scan of the Pancreas to males and females aged 16 and over.

An ultrasound of your pancreas is performed to enable our radiographers and sonographers to examine images and detect signs of inflammation or indications that there is a blockage of bile flow. They use this painless, non-invasive technique – using sound waves that bounce off tissue and organs to examine the pancreas to evaluate abnormalities.

Pancreatic ultrasound can be used to assess for pancreatic malignancy, pancreatitis, and its complications, as well as for other pancreatic pathology.

We ask our patients to prepare for pancreas ultrasound by fasting to reduce interference from bowel gas that can create poor visualisation of the pancreas. This means fasting for 6 hours prior to the scan. Drink water only.

We can offer peace of mind and reassurance with high calibre radiographers performing a scan on your pancreas. Ultrasound is non-invasive, safe, and reliable. 

MUMS patients can self-refer or bring a referral from their clinician. There are no waiting times and booking is easy.

You will be given a report at the end of the scan. The report can be analysed by MUMS clinicians for any onward referral.
