MUMS Consultant Paediatrician administers Meningitis C and HIB Paediatric Vaccine to babies at 1 year of age.

The Hib/MenC vaccine is a single injection given to 1-year-old babies to boost their protection against Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib) and meningitis C. Hib and meningitis C infections are serious and potentially fatal. They can both cause meningitis and blood poisoning (sepsis).
This vaccine is offered to all babies at 1 year of age.
It is safe for this vaccine to be administered at the same time as MMR, Meningitis B and pneumonia.
This vaccine is not for older children and adults.
HIB is Haemophilus Influenza type B which can cause pneumonia, meningitis and blood poisoning.
Meningococcal is a bacterial infection that affects the membranes around the brain and can cause blood poisoning.
The meningitis C part of this vaccine only protects your child against meningococcal meningitis and not other types of meningitis.
