Our experience at mums has been very disappointing.
We had an early pregnancy scan on monday 4th january, and the lady scanning was very nice and reassuring and explained what she saw, unfortunatly we could only see a sack but she said we could return for a follow up scan in 10-14days to rescan and we should see more. We were undecided and said we would think and arrange a scan with mums or somewhere else if we wanted the scan. We asked about the dvd and photos; we were then given one photo and a dvd of the scan.
When we got home the dvd was blank, and after ringing up mums we were told we would be scanned for free as the dvd was blank, we ended up having 3 phonecalls with MUMS and clearly asked several times if we would have to pay and were told we would definitely not.
Today we went for our rescan. We got to mums and were told there was material on the dvd but it had not been 'finalised', and were told the sonographer had left the dvd open for following scans. But in the scan we said we weren't sure we were returning so we wanted the dvd to watch. We had travelled an hour to get there so therefore decided to pay again for another scan, we went into the scan room and were scanned for a total of 2-3minutes. It was a very quick on the table and off again and out the room. We saw a heartbeat and told the measurement but no other information and a 2minuit scan was not worth the £70 we had just paid.
So a total of £140 spent and 4hours travelling to finally get a dvd of the scan. We are extremely extremely disappointed and will not be recommending MUMS and will not be using them again.

I am so sorry to hear that there was crossed wires with this visit
I have spoken to the staff concerned and have written you a letter to explain things and offer you something in return
I think there was a genuine misunderstanding on both sides about what was happenning on that day and so that why you were charged
An early pregnancy scan is a relativley quick scan as there isnt a great deal to see often due to the size of the baby However the scan and consultation can take up to an hour when the news is not so good
the pleasure of seeing your baby is wonderful to any parent to be but we are also mindful that in early pregnancy although ultrasound is safe we do not go anywhere near the safety levels for ultrasound and thus limit the time when all the major organs are forming
I do hope the letter explains things fully and that your pregnancy is progressing well after a concerned start

Kind regards

Chris
